Today, we have a full in-house team that handles everything from construction to the trades needed to complete the work. The approach has stayed the same. Ryan Schriefer founded C-U Under Construction, a general contracting remodel company based in Champaign, IL. By 2010, Ryan Spomer, who had been running a successful paint-and-drywall business, joined as a partner. Together, they merged their operations to form a stronger, more versatile company. Their shared vision was to bring all the trades under one roof, creating a seamless process for managing projects from start to finish. That same year, Ross Schriefer, Ryan’s brother, became a partner, bringing his background in Agricultural Business and expertise in project management.
Following its founding, C-U Under Construction rapidly expanded its operations into various trades, positioning itself as a vertically integrated company. In 2010, Sean Clodfelder joined the team to establish the C-U Plumbing division. In 2013, Mary Jeurissen was brought on board to lead HR and office management and ultimately became a partner. The company further strengthened its capabilities in 2014 by acquiring a local construction business, which led to Jeff Burgoni stepping in as a managing partner to oversee residential construction projects. By 2017, the company had also expanded into the C-U Electric division, with Jeremy Myrick taking the reins as managing partner while also launching C-U HVAC, further diversifying the company’s offerings.
C-U Under Construction continued to grow by adding new talent and expanding its services. In 2019, Michael Breen, an HVAC expert, became managing partner of the HVAC division, helping grow both service and commercial construction, including the Chateau Normand build-out. The company has completed various commercial projects for companies and investors. By 2021, it expanded into real estate development, acquiring 17.8 acres in Savoy for multi-family and commercial projects. During this time, its trade divisions became known as C-U Trade Services, a sister company of C-U Under Construction.
Our team is based in Champaign and Onarga, and we take on construction projects throughout Central Illinois.
